The eighth tattoo I had done was the Amaryllis on my left arm.
The tattoo was done on 9th September 2014 by Elliott at Mantra and took around 2 hours to complete.
The image was drawn by Elliott based on some images I had emailed to him. While we were at it we also added in a few more leaves to fill in the gaps left near to the snake.
The amaryllis is symbolic of success won after a struggle and I have had many a struggle through life and always been successful overcoming them.
As for “did it hurt?” The honest answer is yes. There will always be some pain with any tattoo and anyone who claims otherwise is lying. The level of pain, the severity and the discomfort varies from person to person, placement to placement and even down to how well you slept the night before or even what you ate the night before. In the case of this tattoo the discomfort level would be around about a 5 to a 9 depending on the area since it goes in to the ditch which is my worst spot. The majority was a 5 however in the ditch it is certainly, at least for me, the most painful part. It also touches on the elbow in places which is supposedly a bad spot however I found it to be very easy going and at a level of around 2 or 3.
